Appleton, WI, June 4, 2025 — Armament Systems and Procedures (ASP) is expanding its less lethal portfolio with the launch of Defender® LE—the company’s biggest brand extension in over twenty years. Defender LE is an all-new line of OC sprays, inert training sprays and post-exposure decontamination products, developed by and for law enforcement professionals. As with all of ASP’s police equipment, the new OC line is supported by worldwide, tuition-free training.
The Defender LE system is built around ASP’s 1.4% major capsaicinoid OC formula—the most potent among leading law enforcement brands. It is High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) tested by independent laboratories to the most current and accurate capsaicin potency testing standards. The OC formula is water-soluble, nonflammable and CEW-safe, and incorporates UV marking dye to aid in subject identification.
The line includes MK-3 and MK-4 duty sprays in stream, gel, and fog dispersal patterns. There are also inert training versions of each spray type, for safe but realistic instruction. Defender LE stream and gel sprays feature Omnidirectional bag-on-valve (BOV) technology, allowing 360° deployment—even when inverted—with a range of up to 18 feet. Flip-top safety actuators feature wide openings for gloved use.
The duty and inert sprays have color-coded labels, actuators, and outer boxes, clearly differentiating live, “hot” units from safe training sprays. Each canister is clearly labeled with product identification, lot number, serial number, and expiration date, supporting evidence control and inventory management.
The new line also includes Defender Decon, a proprietary, eco-friendly cleanser that breaks down OC resin on the skin, dramatically accelerating relief and recovery for individuals exposed to pepper spray.
Finally, ASP is expanding its international police training programs to include OC instruction. The new OC Instructor Certification (OCIC) course will be offered as an optional extension to the company’s existing baton, restraint and flashlight instructor certification programs. Importantly and uniquely, ASP offers its training completely tuition-free to qualified officers and agencies.
