Friction Batons expand by sharply flicking the baton straight up or straight down to extend the inner shafts. Each shaft is locked rigidly in place by a precision Friction taper. To retract the baton, strike the tip of the baton sharply downward on a hard surface, such as concrete.
Foam and Duratec grips are available. Airweight shafts offer 45% weight reduction with 98% of the striking potential of steel. Black Chrome provides the most durable and corrosion resistant black baton finish. Electroless is the most corrosion resistant finish. It is well suited to high humidity environments.

"Easy to deploy. Light weight. Discreet and concealable. Very, actually extremely difficult to close. Cannot close the baton manually. Have to close baton by striking downward on pavement or steel. IS THIS NORMAL FOR THE ASP ELECTROLESS 16 FOAM HANDLE MODEL?"
"These are super handy to have. My agency requires me to carry a baton all the time, even when not in a full duty belt. When belt mounted, the shorter length doesn't give tell-tale signs I'm carrying a baton at my preferred draw angle. I have 3 in this length; two regular weight (one electroless and one black chrome), and one airweight. All of them are foam gripped. But don't let the shorter length fool you. If you apply all 7 Components of Power, it will still deliver the hit you need."
