Used properly, ASP Defender® Decon breaks up the oily resin that pepper spray leaves on the skin, aids in flushing it away, and reduces recovery time compared to rinsing with water alone. Defender Decon should be used with soft, absorbent paper towels to aid in recovery.

Immediately move a person who has been sprayed to a well-ventilated location, away from the contaminated area.
Reassure the affected individual and explain that you are about to do a cleansing process that should begin to help symptoms subside within a few minutes.

Ensuring that the affected individual keeps his eyes and mouth closed, spray Defender Decon liberally onto the exposed areas from a distance of 8–12 inches, until the cleanser is seen dripping off the skin.

Use the nose to bisect the face, and blot outward towards the ears carefully, starting with the hairline and eyebrows. Again, ensure that the individual keeps his eyes and mouth closed. Do not rub. Replace paper towels with fresh ones continuously to remove contaminants.

Repeat all steps above, using fresh paper towels each time, until the effects of exposure have subsided.
Rinse with cool running water to complete the process.
If symptoms do not subside within 45-60 minutes, seek medical attention
